Opening Exercises

Our Opening Exercises

We did some exercises to start class. The first one we did was the shading and drawing the tennis ball. We got a sheet with blocks that were different shades and then tried to copy it to the right of it. The next thing we did was trying to see how we could use our shading in drawing the shadows.

Tennis Ball Creations

The next project we did was the tennis ball creation project. We turned 2 tennis balls into a work of art! We could use both, or just one. We could add lights, sound, or other surprising elements. We could paint it, cut it, glue things to it, drill into it, poke into it – be creative! We could make it stand on a pedestal or give it legs. We could make it hang. We were asked to consider all options. The end result should NOT be a functional object, but rather a transformation of the tennis ball(s) into an unexpected work of art.... we were asked to be PLAYFUL!!

First 3D Model

For our first attempts at building in Cinema 4D, we worked on building yellow submarine. Building this model helped us to understand and navigate Cinema 4D's workspace. We used "primitive shapes"to create the main body of the submarine, learned about splines to create the submarine's fins, extruded shapes, and deformed shapes. This exercise can be found on Cinema 4D's "Cineversity"help website:  https://www.cineversity.com/

Next, we will be using these skills to create 3D logos.

One Day Challenge

Our first one day challenge was to make a jack'o lantern on halloween. I wasn't able to finish carving it in the time that we had in class.

Computer Caddy Challenge

We had a one day challenge to create a caddy for a computer in the room. The goal was to make it not that visible or distracting. We also had to make it hold headphones, a pencil, and maybe a phone

Screen Saver Challenge

The screen saver challenge was one of the first ones that we did. My original one deleted so I made a new one. We followed a tutorial to hopefully make a repeating screen saver that was a loop.
